Virtual Conference: International Education after COVID-19 May 28, 2020 (07:00-9:00 Washington/ 16:00-18:00 Tashkent)

Today, people all over the world are experiencing the unprecedented breakout of COVID-19, which is challenging every aspect of our lives and reshaping the future of higher education. Around the world, higher education institutions have implemented response plans, delivered education online, and cancelled summer international academic mobility programs. Despite the enormous challenges, there remains significant potential to cultivate U.S. and Central Asian partnerships from a distance in the areas of scientific collaboration, educational curriculum, and capacity building for internationalization. American Councils for International Education in collaboration with the Bukhara State Medical Institute named after Abu Ali ibn Sino invite academic and administrative staff of Central Asian higher education institutions to participate in a Virtual Conference: International Education after COVID-19.

Goal and Outcomes: Gather best practices of international education practitioners across Central Asia in their responses to COVID-19; Share approaches and solutions across Central Asian universities to create a vision for international education after COVID-19; Provide a networking opportunity for administrators and faculty in international higher education. In four breakout sessions, we invite heads of academic and international affairs offices to contribute their ideas and perspectives. An American Councils staff member will moderate in a round-table format on one of the following topics of participants’ choice: Internationalization Planning and Strategies: How is your institution adjusting your international education strategy? Online Teaching and Learning: What successes and challenges has your institution experienced in the move toward online teaching and learning? Innovations in Student Mobility: How will international student and faculty mobility programs look after COVID-19 for admission, mobility and international projects? Research Priorities: How are the different HEIs (medical, technical, pedagogical, law, etc.) uniquely addressing solutions for faculty research during and after COVID-19?

Registration: please go to: https://forms.gle/yeG1LDXdVKnidZE49 to register before May 22.

During the registration, you will be able to select your preferred breakout session topic and submit a short statement (200-500 words) on your vision for the future of international education. Responses will be shared with participants to support a community of expertise in Central Asia. Following the conference, all participants will be provided a certificate from American Councils for International Education and Bukhara State Medical Institute named after Abu Ali ibn Sino certifying attendance in the online conference. Please note that registration is limited to recipients of this email address only. Upon registration, you will receive details about the conference.
